A hundred-plus boats across the classes have raced the week on the bay's thermal breezes, the fleet anchored between the club's race areas and the city's frontage — the course geography that makes this the Mediterranean's most watchable big regatta.
This edition's timing has been its small story: running 1-8 August — a week later than the recent late-July pattern, and therefore directly against the first and fullest fortnight of the family-holiday season. The visible consequences ran on schedule: host-port berths and the city's tables at their annual maximum, the spectator frontages full, and the surrounding anchorages carrying the overflow of a fleet and a holiday crowd arriving together.
What the week leaves behind
The regatta's economic shadow is Palma's to enjoy for the fortnight after — the fleet dispersing, the following crowd thinning, and August's second half finding a city with its racing apparatus folded away but its summer still running. For the charter market, the same arithmetic applies in reverse: the post-regatta week buys the same waters with materially more space, and the boats that waited for the fleet to leave now get the bay's breeze without the bay's traffic.
The calendar turns toward autumn
The circuit's remaining fixtures are already published: September brings the season's twin finales — Monaco's superyacht show at Port Hercule from the 23rd to the 26th, and the classic and modern fleets gathering in Saint-Tropez for the town's autumn sailing week. The 45th Copa del Rey, for the planners, is announced for 31 July to 7 August 2027 — back to the familiar slot, and already on next year's calendar.
